Summers & Skin - Pre-prepare Your Skin For The Heat

Summers are here and so are the ounces of oil on your skin, redness, and irritation. Summers are a very tricky time to choose what’s best for your acne-prone skin. Whether to continue using moisturizer, or to wash your face or not, it is a tough time every time. And above all that lies the issue of sweating. We get it! It can really be overwhelming with sweat, oil production, and heat!

Worry not, we’re going to help you understand the best way to take care of your acne-prone skin and still maintain it to be looking flawless and continue your healing journey. Acne reacts differently in different weathers and hence taking care of it  accordingly is extremely important. For example, summers can be extremely sweaty, therefore clogging the pores, similarly winters can be really drying for your skin.

Here are some ways to combat the effect of heat on your skin.

Wake Up & Wash Up

Keeping your face clean is the first step to a summer-ready skin. If your skin is too oily, then make sure you wash your face twice or thrice a day. Don’t skip this step and do not overdo the same too. It might seem like a skippable step, but doing it might cause a lot of residue accumulation on the skin, and overdoing it might make your skin too dry.

Sun = Sunscreen

Summers can make your skin drier and then in turn lead to a lot of irritation. Exposure to the sun for a long time can make these symptoms worse and lead to redness or even inflammation. Acne-prone sensitive skin needs to be taken care of and a UV sunscreen is the best option, in this case, to protect it further. Lather yourself with a lot of sunscreens before stepping out and even indoors.

Gently exfoliate to clear it out

It might seem like summer isn’t the time to exfoliate but if you have acne-prone skin, you need to find an exfoliator that is gentle on the skin. Pick a gentle exfoliator that subtly clears out your pores and removes the dead skin cells. It also will help you fade acne marks and reduce tanning due to constant sun exposure. You can sort to home gentle exfoliators like coffee or besan.

Moisturise at regular intervals

Contrary to the popular belief that acne-prone skin should not be moisturized regularly, during summers it might be the most important step. Due to sweat, you keep washing your face and that makes it dry. Dry skin tends to get oilier as it feels the need to be moist and works as its coping mechanism. So when moisturizer isn’t used, the dust and sweat lead to acne and chances of worsening skin. Try a gel based moisturizer if your skin is getting too oily.

Mild face-wash for the win!

While you lather your face with all that suits you, the most important step is to cleanse. AcneStar Face Wash is an anti-acne face wash and a mild cleanser that helps you retain your face’s natural oils.
