How to get rid of Stubborn Chin Acne?

How to get rid of Stubborn Chin Acne

First thing first, why do chin acne occur?

Pimples occur when your pores get clogged due to excess oil and dead skin cells. Dead skin rises to the surface of your pores and flakes off and when too much oil is produced, dead skin cells get stuck together. And then these little globs of oil and skin produce a plug that blocks your pores.

Sometimes what happens is that the bacteria that live naturally on your skin get trapped behind these plugs and as they grow inside your pores they create redness and inflammation. Depending on the inflammation and bacteria, your pimple might transformed into a whitehead or become cystic.

Pimples on the chin area are quite common, more than you would imagine. If you are aware of the concept called face mapping, then you know that pimples in different areas have different causes. Several researchers suggest that acne on your chin or near your jaw are related to hormones, particularly in women.

How to treat chin acne?

There is an array of acne treatments available to pick from. Different things work for different people but usually, pimples can be eradicated with some work.

  • Mild cases or pustules can be treated with the help of some of the best clear gels for pimples.
  • Then you can also opt for birth control, your doctor can prescribe you a normal hormonal birth control pill that will help regulate acne-causing hormones.
  • Last but not least, you can also go for extraction. Here, the large cyst can be drained and surgically extracted by your doctor.

To treat acne, you must know things that you need to avoid. There might be some things that may feel right to you but actually, they worsen your acne. Things you should avoid doing are:

  • Don’t wash your face too often, twice a day should suffice. If you cleanse your face more than that, it might irritate your skin or acne.
  • Say no to harsh cleansers, scrubs, and loofahs.
  • As tempting as it might look, do not pop your pimples. This causes more inflammation which then leads to scarring.
  • We know that too much oily skin can be a problem but so is dryness. Try to avoid alcohol-based astringents and don’t forget to moisturize.
  • Put an alarm or a reminder, but never sleep in your makeup. Always wash your face with the best anti-acne soap.
  • Try not to experiment with new treatment every week.
  • Change your sheets and pillowcases often.
  • We don’t realise it but we can’t keep our hands away from our chin and jawlines. Try to avoid that.

It might seem a lot or overwhelming but always know that you can always seek help from a dermatologist.
