acnestar

First of all, let us congratulate you on winning the first battle against acne. You did well and still are, so keep up the efforts. Sometimes it might feel like the journey to clear skin can be tough but it sure is rewarding. Got rid of acne? It is now time to get rid of the acne marks and scars. But how does one identify the difference between the two? Yes, they're different, some of you might not know this. Hang on, we'll guide you through this journey and fasten the process for you.

While both acne marks and scars seem the same. They're entirely different and need to be treated differently too. Let's do an exercise. Stand in front of your mirror. Smile first. :)

Okay now pay attention to your skin. You will see some discoloration in the skin at some bits and in  some areas you see some raised parts. Can you now guess which ones? Now lightly rub your hand across them. The ones which are raised are acne scars and the light black areas are acne marks.

What causes them?

One of the reasons for aggravated acne could be touching the acne and picking it. Control your urge to touch or squeeze or scratch the affected acne healing area. Both acne scars and marks are mainly because of either initial picking or picking while the acne is healing.

Acne marks are called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or dark spots which are caused due to a mix of excessive production of white blood cells and melanin. Additionally, there’s a type of melanin that decides the colour of the acne and turns them red for lighter skin and darker for dark skin.

Acne scars, on the other hand, are just like acne marks but they lead to further skin damage again during the healing process for multiple reasons as mentioned before. It could be picking or a breakout on top of the healing acne.

How to avoid causing them?

During and after the acne is healed, it needs intensive care. Keep your acne-specific skincare routine consistent and keep patience until the marks reduce. You really can’t avoid causing the acne scars if they’re caused during another breakout but take care of your skin and give it the love it deserves.
